Washington Politics: The Land of Incompetency, 2020
The above link perfectly displays the absurd nature of Washington politics as the nation winds up for another bout with the “SIlly Season”, that is the United States’ 2020 Presidential campaigns. New York City, Mayor Bill de Blasio, a current Democratic candidate for the U.S. Presidency, attempted to appeal to the crowd by chanting the phrase ‘Hasta la victoria siempre!’ in a campaign rally in Miami on 6/27/2019. I would assume that one of the 30 year old geniuses that de Blasio has on his campaign staff advised him to start a chant in Spanish to appeal to the Hispanic crowd at the rally and ‘Hasta la victoria siempre!’ was the pick of the day. This phrase was commonly used by Communist Cuban revolutionary leader Che Guevara and is an example of the absolute absurdity of our politicians to do or say anything to get elected. Translated,’Hasta la victoria siempre!’ means ‘Until victory, always!’, which would sound great for an American if it was a quote by a U.S. revolutionary such as, um, let’s say maybe George Washington. Unfortunately for Mayor de Blasio, there must not be anybody in his camp that understands the importance of history and how relevant it really is. Most Cubans that reside in Miami are or are descendants of immigrants that fled the tyranny that was imposed by Fidel Castro. Che Guevara was integral in the Cuban Revolution, which began in 1953 ending in 1959, and became one of Castro’s main confidants and advisers. While evoking slogans such as ‘Hasta la victoria siempre!’ as politcal rally cry, Castro efficiently executed hundreds of his political opponents and transformed Cuba from a beautiful Caribbean island into a Communist work-camp and political puppet for Communist Russian Dictator Nikita Khrushchev. It is unfortunate that the tyrannical ideologies that the United States declared its independence from in 1776 and eventually fought a war with Britain over has been thrown in the trash by the Washington crowd and Communist propaganda slogans are being vomited by ignorant politicians in a pathetic effort to win votes, whether realized or not, it is inexcusable.
